Today we have the pleasure of interviewing Colvin, the digital flower delivery company that is revolutionizing a hitherto forgotten sector. Its renewed vision of flower and plant home delivery has deeply touched the hearts of all nature lovers.

A simple and elegant gift that everyone likes. This is part of their success, which, together with the investment in communication they made from the beginning, is the reason for their success. Small and large influencers are the biggest prescribers of the brand.

With their slogan, “We rebel against routine”, they promote enjoying every minute. Their flowers turn a normal day into something extraordinary, a therapy of happiness for everyone.

 

 

How did the idea for Colvin come about?

Colvin was born to change the way we see flowers and plants. We rebel against routine because we believe that life is not meant to be lived in monotony, it is meant to be enjoyed every minute. Our flowers and plants brighten up any space and turn a normal day into an extraordinary one.

We cut out unnecessary middlemen and work directly with the growers. We commit to them for the long term and ensure fair prices. We create designs inspired by nature, art and everyday life. In addition, our revolution is also about changing the way you buy and receive flowers or plants at home: creating memorable experiences, the kind you want to recommend. 

 

How would you define Colvin and what are its values?

We send fresh plants and flowers fresh from the field and create iconic designs to bring the routine back to life. At Colvin we are much more than flowers and pretty plants, so our purpose is very clear: to create new ways to make our everyday life more exciting.

We are talking about going beyond special dates and giving a bouquet as a gift ‘just because’. Of the extraordinary designs that adapt to the style of each person and fill any corner. And from the personal relationship we have with our customers, florists and partners. It’s our way of brightening people’s lives. 

And what is our value proposition? Offering fresh flowers and plants straight from the field (so they go through fewer middlemen and we ship them extra fresh), creating iconic designs and giving the best every step of the way (we ship fast, protect the products in a specially designed box and our award-winning team of Wizards works magic to help any customer). 

 

In the world of flowers, how important is packaging, and what about special edition packaging?

Packaging is a fundamental element for Colvin. For this reason, we have a specially created design to protect the flowers and plants during shipment. In addition, we have recently renewed our box with a cheerful, colorful and brutal design. Because if our flowers and plants bring color to life, our box could not be less so. 

 

 

How do you work to be sustainable?

Being responsible is as important to Colvin as it is to anyone we work with. Our farmers are socially and environmentally certified to ensure good agricultural practices and ethical and fair trade for the sustainability of people and the planet.

 

Next steps; where are you heading?

Colvin is the first company to digitize the flower and plant sector in Europe with a disruptive model based on disintermediation of the product and supply chain. 

After the last Series C round of €45M announced last July, we have entered a new stage of growth and maturation to reinforce our goal of leading the digital transformation of the floriculture sector. We currently have more than 250 employees and expect to reach 300 people in the coming months.
