In the last few days of November we know there’s no turning back, the cold season is here. Mountains are snowed over and lakes are frozen. It’s the time of year to enjoy our homes with a cup of hot tea on the sofa. The atmosphere we create at home should be at its best: a few cinnamon candles, the fire or heater on and a nice and warm blanket tight around us. The change of season is the perfect moment to add new decorative touches at home. Winter touches to start warming up for the Christmas season.
Today we bring you a pretty craft that is environmentally responsible too. We are going to make three winter animal figures by using recycled boxes and used pieces of cardboard. Exactly, keep the cardboard box from your last purchase, it will be useful to create your very own animal figures. It is very easy, you just need to print our printable templates, draw them on the cardboard, cut them out and, ready!
Decorating our homes with reused materials can be very cool and sustainable. Let’s get started!
A super post in collaboration with Esencia Gráfica.
Materials:
- Used cardboard
- Printable template
- Pencil
- Black felt-tip pen
- Several paintbrushes
- White paint
- Scissors
- Box cutter
STEP BY STEP:
1 – Download and print our templates in DIN A4 paper. You’ll see there are three different animals: the reindeer, the bear and the wolf. We will begin with the reindeer. To get it done, draw each of the animals on the cardboard.
2 – Cut each one out with a box cutter and scissors. Remember the thickness of the slots you need for the tabs depends on how thick the cardboard you are using is.
3 – Colour in areas on each animal with white paint and a paintbrush to add that winter touch. Leave out the animal’s details to bring them out later with a black felt-tip pen.
4 – Assemble the reindeer by putting all the pieces together at a right angle.
Repeat the same process to create the wolf and the bear. Create as many animals as you want, you can have a full herd or pack! But don’t forget, always do it with used cardboard to prolong the life of the material.
See you next time!
