Back to school

7 Sep

September is here and the school year has almost begun. It is now time to get everything ready for a perfect start: textbooks, autumn clothes, stationery supplies…

Little ones also like to prepare their schoolbags, notebooks and coloured pencils. From SelfPackaging, we would like to give them a hand getting ready to go back to school. Today we are bringing in a cool idea for all the kids who enjoy DIY. Kids, we are going to make a pencil case using one of our boxes so you can keep your coloured pencils, notepads and favourite supplies.

A customised pencil-case, tailor-made and put together by the kids themselves – with their parents’ supervision, as cardboard will have to be cut and paper will need to be glued.

STEP BY STEP:

  1. With the help of an adult, the photo box that will serve as the pencil case must be assembled.
  1. Then stick the decorative vinyl anywhere you wish on the box.

  1. It is now time to cut the edge of one of the flag-shaped tags so both sides are symmetrical. On this tag, the pencil-case owner’s name must be written and it will be glued to the box too.
  2. Stickers can be stuck on the surface to create a pattern.

  1. With the help of an adult again, cut out a piece of card in the shape of a triangle with two tabs. This piece of card will serve as a pocket to hold a notepad.
  2. The pocket must be stuck to one of the box’s flaps. You can use either glue or double-sided sticky tape.

  1. The empty toilet paper rolls will be used to hold coloured pencils and felt-tip pens. Sticking some washi tape onto it will add a touch of colour. Then an adult will give it a cut so the roll stays open.
  2. A piece of string will work as a fastener, tying the roll and its contents up. The uncut part of the roll and part of the string will be glued to the box.

  1. Now you can stick the white inserts for chocolates, creating holders for various supplies: rubber, stapler, protractor…
  2. Flag-shaped tags can also be used as fasteners, as can be observed in the picture for the piece that holds the purple highlighter.

With the little ones’ imagination and creative hands, some really cool pencil-cases will be ready for school.
