Today we have the pleasure to know more about Pau i Yo, a lingerie brand born to accompany the different moments of your body. Pau i Yo was born from the need to do things well, with conscience and responsibility, with care and small.
Lingerie made of cotton that combines comfort for real bodies created for the day to day. A brand that avoids the “sexy lingerie” and bets that everyone can wear what they want without titles or limitations.
Small productions, local suppliers and made by Marisol, the founder who created this idea and has made it possible until today. An inclusive project for all women of any size or age.
How did the idea of Pau i Yo come up?
In 2019 I had started studying lingerie at the Escola de la Dona in Barcelona , and that was discovering a world of possibilities and freedoms.
I have been making my own clothes for a very long time, tired and frustrated for not feeling included in the fast fashion brands where I usually shopped. I studied sewing and pattern making and was able to solve it, but…lingerie was still a problem, so making myself the panties I liked and needed was a before and after.
At the end of 2019 I bought 7 different fabrics and half a meter of each one, I thought that many women would be in my same situation, and without much thought, I opened a profile on Instagram and I launched into the adventure of making lingerie for all of us who feel neither included nor represented in most brands.
Today I already buy the fabric by rolls of 10mts!!!!
How would you define Pau i Yo? What are its values?
Pau i Yo is mainly empathy, because it is created by a woman for other women. I started making cotton panties, then bras and even undershirts. Each product is thought from the inclusion, comfort, timelessness and simplicity. With each garment I try to accompany and respect our body, its changes and movements.
Communication is also a fundamental value and pillar in this project. I like to have conversations with all the women who write to me for any consultation, to tell their experience or just to thank me, and it is a very nice connection that occurs between them and me, which I like to take care of.
I like to tell the story behind each product, to share the words of all the women who write to me because I know that they can help other women and thus create a space of trust and security between us.
In the retail world, how important is packaging?
Environmental responsibility is also a very important factor and one to which I pay special attention, from saving all the production scraps to give them a second life as cushion stuffing for example, to thinking about packaging that is as minimalist as possible, but also beautiful and functional.
The shopping experience starts with the packaging, that’s why it must be careful to accompany and guide the person to discover the product inside.
And social networks, are they the perfect showcase?
Thanks to social networks I was able to reach many women, some of them clients and others colleagues. Every day I work to strengthen my community, which is the one that trusts and helps this project to move forward. And thanks also to social networks, I can send to all of Spain.
How do you work to be sustainable?
Generating the least waste is the great challenge for me, that’s why I make small productions, so as not to have meaningless stock, and even the T-shirts and bras are made to order.
Regarding the material, 90% is from suppliers in Spain.
Next steps: Where are you headed?
In the not too distant future I would love to be able to start producing small stocks to take to stores in different parts of Spain, because as I always say: women deserve to be comfortable and by reaching more women, this message will also grow.
