The Cake & Bake Show, Manchester

15 Apr

A week ago we visited the United Kingdom to attend one of the sweetest events of the year, The Cake & Bake show in Manchester. To be honest, we wanted to write about the show some days ago, but we’ve been very busy these last days! First of all, we want to thank you to the organization of The Cake & Bake show for being so helpful (my best to Devina and Patricia, The Cake & Bake Show team)

Celebrity bakers, sugarcraft starts, artisan producers, skill classes, live bake offs, cake competitions and much more… All under one roof! I was really impressed by the cake artists of CakeBomb. They created an installation completely edible, named ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. Actually this was the theme of the show. A cake competition took place under this name. Amateur, professional and also junior cake bakers were welcome.

Thursday

12.00h: We left Barcelona at midday, just in time to get Manchester for a nice cup of English tea. First things first, the cup of tea with milk was an essential of the trip (I have to admit that tea in Barcelona is not as good as the English one).

We spent the rest of the day sightseeing… and we visited one of the institutions of Manchester, Old Trafford, in other words, Manchester United Stadium (well, at least it is an institution for football fans like me). Sorry for Manchester City fans, I’m more attached to Manchester United because of some FCBarcelona players played for MU.

11.00h: Heading to The Cake & Bake Show. There, a nice team was waiting for me for a tour!

14.00h After lunch, I couldn’t have enough of sweets, cakes, cupcakes, marshmallows, meat pies… and all baking stuff you can image. I wish I could show you all the pics! Here is my selection.

After spending the whole Friday at the Cake & Bake show and having met amazing people there (my best to Lynn –Clandestine Cake Club-), we went back to Barcelona with good vibes!

Meanwhile our colleagues were in ‘la cité de l’amour’, Paris. SelfPackaging had a booth at Sugar Paris! If the other stands were plenty of cakes, we decided to make a cake too, but our raw materials were gift boxes (right-hand side)!
